LatheMate Cutting Calc is an offline-first metalworking utility for hobby machinists, model engineers, and trade students. Instead of flipping through paper speed charts or doing spindle-speed math on a scrap sheet, you pick a material and tool type, enter the workpiece diameter, and instantly get recommended RPM, feed per revolution, and depth-of-cut guidance. The app includes a threading wizard for metric and imperial V-threads, a taper wizard for Morse and custom tapers, a local material/tool library seeded with 18 materials, a printable PDF quick-reference card, and a WidgetKit widget that keeps the latest speed reading one glance away. All data lives on device in SwiftData, so the utility works in a workshop with no network or account.

A quick peek at LatheMate Cutting Calc in action.
Material & Tool Library — Build a local shop library from 18 seeded materials (aluminum, mild steel, stainless, brass, acetal) and tool types (HSS, carbide insert), plus add your own custom entries.
RPM Speed Calculator — Enter workpiece diameter, pick material and tool type, and instantly see recommended spindle speed with a surface-speed readout in SFM or m/min.
Feed & Depth Advisor — Toggle between roughing and finishing passes to get suggested feed per revolution and depth of cut for the active material/tool pair.
Threading Wizard — Select metric or imperial threads; the wizard gives tap-drill diameter, thread depth, compound-rest angle, and recommended threading speed for 60° V-threads.
Taper Setting Wizard — Compute tailstock offset or compound slide angle for Morse tapers (MT0–MT5) and custom tapers with visual guidance.
Printable Reference Card — Build and export a one-page PDF quick-reference sheet with the active speeds, feeds, and thread settings to keep at the machine.
LatheMate Cutting Calc keeps your data on your device and integrates no third-party tracking or advertising SDKs. Read the full Privacy Policy.
